Description

Police power is the inherent authority of the State to enact regulations to promote public health, safety, morals, and general welfare.


Purpose 

Police power allows the State to regulate conduct and property to protect public health, safety, morals, and general welfare. It explains why individual rights may sometimes yield to legitimate public interests, provided the regulation is reasonable and lawful.
