Political Law & Public International Law
Political and public international law in the Philippines set the legal framework for how the State operates internally and how it engages with the world.
Political law covers constitutional, administrative, and electoral rules that shape government structure, limit state power, and protect individual rights under the 1987 Constitution, anchoring democracy through separation of powers, checks and balances, and civil liberties.
Public international law, on the other hand, governs the Philippines’ external relations, guiding foreign policy and state conduct through treaties and international agreements such as UNCLOS.
Together, these bodies of law sustain democratic governance at home, safeguard national sovereignty, and promote peaceful cooperation abroad.
